Our Brands

Mountain Equipment Logo

Mountain Equipment

Since Mountain Equipment began in 1961 we have participated in countless ascents of the world’s highest peaks, supported climbers establishing ever more adventurous routes and equipped world record setting trips to the North and South Poles.

We have been making gear for the most inhospitable places on the planet for over 50 years. You learn a lot here. And all we have learned, lives in our gear.

Smartwool Logo

Smartwool

The Smartwool community is a collection of people who believe that time outside is valuable, restorative, and essential for everyone.

When we started making socks back in 1994, our founders simply wanted to be able to ski longer without getting cold toes.

That’s when they discovered the benefits of Merino wool as a performance fabric. It was soft (softer than any wool they had ever felt), moisture-wicking, thermoregulating (warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s warm), sustainable, and odor-neutralizing—helping to keep feet dry, comfortable, and warm for longer than the synthetic socks they were wearing at the time. It worked so well, in fact, that we use it in almost every single item we make.

We were the first outdoor company to make performance Merino wool ski socks—revolutionizing the category and forever changing the way outdoor enthusiasts viewed their feet.

Our whole brand was built on the desire to be comfortable on outdoor adventures—we wanted to go farther and experience more. And that drive continues to fuel everything we do. From our Merino wool supply chain to our Smartwool advocacy program to how we design our socks and apparel, we exist to help you play, live, and laugh in the great outdoors as often as you would like.

Sprayway Logo

Sprayway

In 1974, above a laundrette in Chorlton, Greater Manchester, two lads with a little bit of cash in their back pockets set about making functional and affordable 4oz PU coated Nylon cagoules for the sailing market – Sprayway was born.

On paper John & Simon were polar opposites, but when they worked together it clicked. Simon was a numbers and operations man, while John had a head for product and marketing; one liked their tea milky, the other strong. Yet it was their complementary individual passions that formed the basis of their relationship and set the tone that is still the heart of the brand today.

Altra Running R Logo

Altra Running

The beginning of Altra was simple.

A couple of passionate runners and a shoe they knew they needed… which didn’t exist… A shoe that went against the status quo. Spoiler: They didn’t really care. They didn’t mean to start a company, but when no one else would make the shoe they needed… they built it themselves.

Our Story

At the heart of Timberland’s story is a community – several communities – stepping outside to work hard together and move the world forward. With grit and a relentless dedication to problem solving, these bold doers embrace the adventures on their path.

Our Roots

Defined By The Outdoors

Without New England’s fierce and demanding environs, there would be no Timberland. We started by equipping workers to power through the toughest outdoor environments.

LittleLife logo

LittleLife

Parenthood changes everything – it even changed our business. The people behind our successful adventure brand, Lifeventure, all began having families around the same time. They started to consider how they could bring all that passion and expertise into developing products that would enable everyone to keep on exploring the great outdoors from the earliest days with children.

They didn’t want to stop having adventures just because they were new parents, so LittleLife – the UK’s original outdoor and travel goods company for family adventures – was ‘born’ too!

We believe that fresh air, come rain or shine, is the key to good health and happiness for children and their parents.

Nikwax Logo

Nikwax

Born in 1954, Nick Brown was brought up in Kent and was introduced to trekking in the Peaks with his father, through the YHA, from the age of ten. Nick walked in Scotland every year and being dissatisfied with the waterproofing products available, he created his own recipe for preserving his boots.

It was important to make them waterproof without softening them and losing their essential supportive features. Nick’s wax (hence the name Nikwax) was the beginning of a remarkable success story.

Nikwax was first produced as a commercial product in a North London flat. In 1977, at 22 years of age, Nick mixed his first order with a discarded tea urn, a primus stove, a jug and materials bought from a local hardware store.

Lifesystems Logo

Lifesystems

“As a young traveller I ventured off the beaten track regularly, but one day, far from civilisation, I needed urgent medical attention. Luckily I was with a nearly qualified doctor, Ania Koziell, who always carried a makeshift bag of first aid equipment. So I questioned: How would I have coped without my doctor travelling companion?”

“When I returned home, I worked in collaboration with Ania, as well as leading expedition and emergency medical experts to develop the UK’s first travel specific first aid kit in 1989. Since then we have continually developed, using scientific innovation and leading-edge research to provide a huge range of expedition gear that enables you to experience the world’s toughest adventures.”

Oboz Footware Logo

Oboz

Outside + Bozeman = Oboz
Right outside our front door, the mountains just outside Bozeman beckon us. It’s this 18-million-acre laboratory where we test our designs and inspire ideas, and where we just soak it all in. It even inspired the name “Oboz”.

Each day we come to work, we simply do our best to live up to this gift. Here at Oboz, we are hikers, we are walkers, we are runners, we are bikers, we are anglers…we are many things, and yet we’re all connected on the trail. It’s this lifelong love of the trail that enables our designers to create footwear that’s remarkably durable, comfortable, and always worthy of the task at hand. Our philosophy is simple. Design the kind of footwear that we’d want to wear.

Trekmates New Logo

Trekmates

Trekmates began creating outdoor accessories back in ’97. Based out of a garage in Nottingham, a father and son team started developing great value gloves and hats for adventurers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.

We believe the devil is in the detail when it comes to designing the accessories that will make your adventures the best they can be, which is why the development of every product is so particular, we want to make sure that our outdoor accessories perform when you need them most.

We blend price and performance, for the best possible value, taking note of the adventures where our accessories will be used, and selecting the most appropriate features you will need – while shedding the unnecessary add-ons that will weigh you down. Where possible we have designed our accessories with multi-functional features to increase versatility and value, being able to be used across many different activities, wherever your adventure takes you.

We have developed innovative new evolutions to overcome the challenges often encountered outdoors, using our experience as walkers, climbers and general lovers of the outdoors to create the exceptionally functional accessories that we know are needed during any adventure.

Zempire Logo

Zempire

Zempire® is the little New Zealand camping empire built by husband and wife team Richard and Sophie Knauf. From small beginnings, a dedication to smart design and “the last 10%” has seen this Kiwi company quietly build a global community of devoted fans.

New Zealand’s spectacular but often rugged mountains, forests, beaches, rivers and coasts are where we put our designs to the test. Down here at the bottom of the world, the fresh sea breezes, strong UV light and sometimes wild (the locals like to call it “invigorating”) weather are nature’s perfect testing ground. If they can stand up to these conditions, they can thrive anywhere in the world.

Strength and durability are essentials for any great outdoors product – but it’s the dedication to design that makes Zempire® something special. All Zempire® products are meticulously constructed for ease of use, packability, and extra comfort. Every detail is considered. What’s more, they look great and are fun to use.

Lifeventure Logo

Lifeventure

“As a young world traveller 25 years ago, I didn’t enjoy being weighed down by too much gear. I needed lightweight, functionality, and the liberty that brings. I returned home inspired to make travelling a better experience for others. Our first products were a range of strong, lightweight travel wallets, designed to fit multiple currencies, passport and tickets.”

“Those original ambitions are embodied in all the travel accessories we develop – the freedom to feel alive, to experience your adventures confidently, stepping lightly on the planet and absorbing the world of inspiration around you, wherever you are.”
